Engineer - Technical Spares & Inventory

Engineer - Technical Spares & Inventory Role Responsible for managing technical spares and consumables at the plant stores, ensuring the right material, in the right quantity, at the right time to support uninterrupted plant operations and maintenance. The role will oversee inventory planning, stock monitoring, purchase requisitions, and coordination with Maintenance, Procurement, and Stores. Key Responsibilities Manage mechanical/electrical spares and consumables required for plant operations and maintenance. Monitor stock levels and establish appropriate minimum, maximum, reorder and safety stock levels. Analyze consumption, lead times, equipment criticality, and planned maintenance requirements to determine optimum order quantities. Raise timely purchase requisitions for replenishment and planned maintenance requirements. Ensure critical spares are available to minimize equipment downtime and production interruptions. Verify technical specifications, part numbers, OEM requirements, and material descriptions before procurement. Coordinate with Maintenance, Procurement, Stores, and suppliers for timely availability and delivery of materials. Monitor slow-moving, excess, obsolete, and non-moving inventory and recommend corrective actions. Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure alignment between physical stock and ERP/system records. Prepare periodic reports on inventory status, critical spares, stock-outs, consumption, purchase requirements, and inventory performance. Qualification & Experience Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution. Minimum 2 years of relevant industrial experience, preferably in a steel plant, manufacturing, heavy engineering, power, cement, mining, or other process industry. Experience in technical stores, spare parts management, inventory control, maintenance planning, or procurement will be an advantage. Good knowledge of industrial mechanical/electrical components and maintenance spares. Working knowledge of ERP/SAP, MS Excel, inventory management, and purchase requisition processes.
