SUMMARY We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Principal Engineer cum Team Lead (AI, Software) to provide both hands-on technical leadership and people management for our AI engineering team. This role is responsible for architecting scalable AI solutions while leading, mentoring, and growing a high-performing team of engineers. You will play a critical role in aligning technology strategy with business goals and ensuring the successful delivery of AI-driven products. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP) Lead the architecture, design, and development of AI/ML-based software systems. Define and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and system design principles. Oversee the end-to-end AI lifecycle, including data pipelines, model development, deployment, and monitoring. Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and high-performing in production environments. Stay current with emerging trends in AI, machine learning, and software engineering and drive adoption where relevant. TEAM LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AI/software engineers. Manage resource planning, task allocation, and performance reviews. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and accountable team culture. Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top engineering talent. PROJECT & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT Work closely with product managers, data teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions. Drive project planning, prioritization, and timely delivery of key initiatives. Communicate technical concepts and progress effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant exposure to AI/ML systems. Proven track record in delivering production-grade AI applications. Prior experience in team leadership or people management roles. Strong programming skills in Python, Rust, CUDA, C#, and Dart Solid understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and data engineering concepts. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and distributed systems. Familiarity with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar. Experience with MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices. PREFERRED SKILLS Experience with generative AI, NLP, or computer vision applications. Knowledge of AI governance, ethics, and compliance frameworks. Experience in agile development methodologies. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
