Speech Therapist Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients’ speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities post-surgery. Closely work with healthcare team to discuss patient care plans and share progress updates. Create individualized therapy plans based on assessment results and patients’ specific recovery goals. Provide direct therapy services to improve communication skills, language development, and swallowing function. Educate patients and their families on strategies for effective communication, swallowing techniques, and rehabilitation exercises. Regularly track and document patient progress, modifying treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal recovery and achievement of goals. Work closely with physicians, occupational therapists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
