SAP BASIS L2 Support Engineer OverviewThe SAP BASIS L2 Support Engineer is responsible for the administration, monitoring, maintenance, and support of SAP systems to ensure high availability, performance, security, and operational stability. The role provides second-level support for SAP landscapes, including system administration, transport management, user administration, backup and recovery activities, performance monitoring, and SAP Support Portal interactions. Responsibilities Monitor, verify, and clean SAP alert logs and system logs. Manage transport logs, import queues, and Transport Management System (TMS) activities. Investigate and resolve transport failures, errors, and queue issues. Maintain RFC connections and SAP logon groups. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly online and offline SAP backup activities. Maintain backup naming standards and support recovery processes. Monitor system performance, memory utilization, and identify missing database indexes. Configure system logs and operation modes, including scheduling and exception handling. Install SAP licenses, printers, and system-wide messages. Administer user accounts, including creation, copying, locking/unlocking, password resets, and user activity monitoring. Manage roles, authorizations, activity groups, and security-related access requests. Perform housekeeping activities, including deletion of obsolete user records and transport directory cleanup. Administer SAP Support Portal (SAPNet) activities, including incident management, support package requests, SAP Notes research, developer registrations, and remote service coordination. Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot background jobs and SAP R/3 monitoring jobs. Maintain the SAP transport landscape and ensure successful transport movement across environments. Support SAP EarlyWatch, remote consulting sessions, and SAP remote service connectivity. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Proven experience in SAP BASIS administration and L2 production support. Strong knowledge of SAP system monitoring, transport management, user administration, and authorization management. Experience with SAP backup and recovery procedures, performance tuning, and memory management. Hands-on experience with SAP Support Portal (SAPNet), OSS message management, and SAP Notes implementation. Knowledge of SAP operation modes, background job scheduling, and system housekeeping activities. Familiarity with SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BW, or related SAP environments. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a support environment with SLA-driven objectives.
